Königsberg means “King's Mountain” — and that is exactly what each set resembles: a mountain of amber, its translucent honey and cognac tones frozen like a golden iceberg drawn from the Baltic Sea.

For seven centuries, Königsberg stood as the amber capital of the world — a Baltic city where artisans shaped raw amber into works of timeless beauty. Today those same masterworks rest in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Elena Kizima was born in Königsberg. She and her husband Yuriy carry that tradition forward — handcrafting every KIZIMA® piece in their New York workshop.

Amber cannot be carved whole into a set this size — the stone is too small and fragile. So since the royal amber workshops of the 18th century, masters have hand-fused genuine amber together with jewelry-grade amber resin — the very craft behind the legendary Amber Room and the antique amber chess set in the Met. Each of the 32 chessmen is shaped, polished, and assembled entirely by hand from amber 40–60 million years old. No two sets are ever the same.

Shipping Policy

• Ships from: our KIZIMA® workshop in Brooklyn, New York — to the United States and worldwide.
• U.S. shipping: free on orders over $100; flat $6.95 on orders under $100. Delivery typically 2–7 business days.
• International shipping: from $25, calculated by weight at checkout; delivery 7–14 business days. Customs duties and import taxes are the responsibility of the recipient.
• Processing: in-stock orders are dispatched within 1–3 business days; made-to-order pieces may take longer.
• Tracking: a confirmation email with a tracking number is sent once your order ships.

Returns Policy

• Return Window: returns and exchanges are accepted within 30 days of delivery.
• Return Process: contact us at elena@kizima.us with your order number and reason for return. We will provide return authorization and instructions.
• Refunds: once we receive and inspect the returned item, a refund is issued to your original payment method within 10 business days. Original shipping fees are non-refundable.
