Some of our favorite pieces never appear in the shop at all — they're commissioned, one at a time, for a specific person and a specific reason: an anniversary, a memorial piece using a family member's old amber, a wedding set designed to match a dress.
Starting with the stone, not the sketch
Unlike manufactured jewelry, a custom amber piece usually starts with the raw material. We select stones by color, clarity, and size for the specific design in mind — a cherry-red cabochon for a bold ring, a pale honey piece with visible flow lines for a pendant meant to catch light.
What's actually possible
Ring and pendant settings can be built from scratch in sterling silver or gold-filled metal. Existing family amber — an old brooch, a broken necklace — can often be recut and reset rather than replaced, keeping the original stone's history intact. Engraving, initials, and small inclusions requests (a specific insect, a specific color) are all things we can search our raw stock for.
Timeline and process
A typical custom piece takes two to four weeks from confirmed design to shipment, depending on whether the setting is built from scratch. We send photos of the selected raw stone before cutting begins, so nothing is a surprise at the end.
